Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos was the keynote speaker at the World Leaders Plenary of the American Jewish Committee Global Forum,
held on June 3 in Washington, USA. Addressing the Forum, Avramopoulos
said that "because of its economic problems, Greece is facing serious
social challenges" stressing that "Greece will never allow hate to grow
and spread. Hate will be confronted and stopped." He also referred to
the cooperation among Greece, Cyprus and Israel, particularly in the
energy sector, and to the cooperation among their respective Diaspora
organizations. He also highlighted that the dynamic development of Greek-Israeli relations is the best guarantee for peace and prosperity of all countries in the region.
On a different note, Avramopoulos also said
that Greece will continue with the implementation of all necessary
measures and added that this new beginning of regenerating the Greek
economy - also provides opportunity for investors who will appreciate
the comparative advantages of Greece...
Avramopoulos is also carrying out a working visit on June 4 and 5 in London, at the invitation of his UK counterpart William Hague, with whom he will have talks on bilateral, European and international issues. Today, Avramopoulos met with the British-Greek Friendship Group of the House of Commons and House of Lords.
